THE MISSION
With our core goals at the forefront and the involvement of our dedicated BTW Mentors, we will provide consistent insight to help them see beyond limiting outcomes and avoid becoming cellmates with any of the BTW Mentors. Our focus is to inspire and encourage our youth to pursue careers such as CEOs, doctors, and lawmakers. We can accomplish this by encouraging confidence, ambition, and a clear vision for their future.
Our vision will be accomplished by transitioning our released BTW Mentors into "Beyond The Wall Mentors", allowing them to take on a more hands-on role with our Mentees. Through this approach, we will prioritize not only educational support but also meaningful 1:1 engagement. Beyond The Wall Mentors will regularly connect with Mentees through one-on-one time, including outings and active participation in all BTW Mentors events. By creating consistent opportunities for connection and shared experiences, we aim to ensure these interactions are not only meaningful but also uplifting, while strengthening confidence and overall well-being.
We believe our youth are capable of greatness and deserve the tools, encouragement, and exposure to achieve it.
THE VISION
WHO?
The Behind The Wall Mentors are a group of mentors dedicated to rebuilding our youth across America. Starting with at-risk youth and children of incarcerated parents, our goals are to encourage, teach, and inspire.
WHY?
Juvenile crime is at an all-time high, and our purpose begins with prevention. We want to prevent the youth from entering the adult prison system. There are more ways to succeed than living a life of crime.
HOW?

BEYOND THE WALLS MENTORS*
Shawn Gardner is a renowned self-publishing author, speaker, and founder of Behind/Beyond The Wall Mentors (BTW Mentors) based in Baltimore, Maryland. He has a passion for helping others unleash their full potential. Shawn has dedicated his life to mentoring and inspiring individuals to achieve their goals and dreams. Shawn believes in a personalized and holistic approach to mentorship. He focuses on building strong relationships with his BTW Mentors and BTW Mentees. Shawn has a gift for understanding their unique strengths and challenges. He is big on providing guidance and support tailored to their individual needs. Shawn is known for his compassionate and empathetic mentorship style, the motivation he gives to his mentors and mentees to push past their limitations, and strive for greatness.
My Works:
Dr. Jachin Walls Sr. is a leader and mentor to many individuals, including some who are incarcerated. Dr. Walls is also a gifted, talented teacher of biblical principles. He holds a Doctorate in Sacred Theology and a Master's in Religious Education from Amherst Theology Seminary. Dr. Walls is devoted to today's youth and helping them reach their full potential. Dr. Walls is also a family man; he is a father of two sons (one of whom is in the U.S. Navy), two daughters, two granddaughters, and two grandsons.
